GPS Farm Mapping
How the Operation Works:
A GPS Technician visits the farm to collect the data for the map. The technicians work with the aid of a quad-bike and the latest GPS equipment and require only that the farmer show them the land to be mapped.
The time it takes to record the data is based on the type of terrain present on the farm, the overall area of land to be mapped and the number of features such as hedges, farm roadways and drains present on the farm.
Once the technician has completed the data collection, the data is processed and a preliminary version of the map is drafted. This can take up to ten days. The preliminary map, which includes details such as paddock wires, fences, hedges, roadways, drains etc., is then forwarded to the farmer who can then enter paddock numbers and make any other changes he/she wishes.
Once the Farmer is satisfied with the map it is returned to Grasstec, the relevant changes are made and the final maps are issued.
