The FARMWORKS Electronic Rising Plate Meter provides a simple, yet effective method of measuring pasture cover. It is Able to operate in all weather conditions and is cost effective and reliable.
The accurate measurement of pasture can deliver clear economic benefits to farming operations through optimised grazing programs. A figure of 10 – 15% improvement in pasture utilisation has been suggested by dairy commentators and researchers as being feasible through the use of pasture budgeting systems.
The assumption is based on a number of contributing factors, such as better utilisation of pasture through advanced budgeting, an improvement in actual pasture yield through better placement of fertilisers and controlled grazing.
The main benefit is the fact that farmers are able to develop a budgeting approach and make better decisions regarding feed, production and use.
OPERATION:
The Electronic Counter automatically senses each reading and updates the average height for the paddock.
When it is necessary to jump a fence or drain, simply turn the electronic counter off, the readings to that point are stored and further plate movements are ignored until the counter is turned back on again.
At the press of a button the average Pasture Cover (kgDM/ha) is indicated using your choice of equation. Standard pasture equations have been programmed into the Counter. However, there is an option to input other equations that may be more appropriate for individual properties such as recommended by local dairy advisors. At the end of the paddock record the height or cover, reset to zero and start on the next paddock.

F400 Electronic Rising Plate Meter
The F400 works in the same way and includes the same features as the F200. The key difference is that allows the user via P-Plus software to upload paddock details and to download pasture readings directly to and from their Computer via a USB cable.
Features of the F400
- Paddock information for up to 300 paddocks can be upload including paddock name, number, size (in hectare), Last Nitrogen Application Date and rate (Feed budget required for this feature)
- Up to 10 equations can be uploaded and used by the F400.
- Previous Covers can be uploaded and are viewable while taking readings
- All collected measurements can be downloaded including grazing state per paddock and the equations used per paddock .
It also features three display options:
