Whether you wish to design a new dairy farm from scratch, to increase the size of your paddocks, or to incorporate additional land into your existing milking platform, Grasstec's Dairy Farm Design Service is a must for you.

How the Process Works:

A Grasstec technician will draft a map of the land using the latest GPS technology. The technician will work with the farmer to evaluate the existing farm layout and discuss the requirements of the new design.

The evaluation and discussion will cover topics such as:

• The features that may remain unchanged, e.g. farm roads, hedges and the location of the milking parlour.
• Objectives/desired result from implementation of the new design.
• Existing areas of difficulty and inefficiency
• The aims of the new design
• How many cows the farmer intends to milk in the future
• Ist he location of the milking parlour going to change in the future and where would that be.
• What plans the farmer has for expansion – increasing the herd infrastructural changes that may be made.
• The timeframe of the development

The designers at Grasstec then draft a new farm design based on the design brief. This is then reviewed by the farmer and further modifications are made if necessary. When the final layout has been decided, all that remains to do is to locate the position of the new roadways and paddock wires.

Laying Out the New Design:

For an additional fee, Grasstec can us the GPS to pinpoint exactly the position of new roadways and fences. This is especially useful where large areas are involved. Alternatively the farmer can be provided with detailed instructions on how to locate the positions of the new fences and roadways.
